Handmade Driftwood Hearts made from some of my favourite pieces of driftwood I have collected over the last 2 years from the beaches in Lagonissi, mainland Greece. All my beachcombed treasures are used as I find them, au naturel.
The driftwood has been cleaned and carefully glued on to the wooden backing board which was hand drawn and cut out by me. The front is hand painted using the fabulous Annie Sloan Chalk Paint, Paris Grey and Old White on the back with a clear wax finish. A line of jute rope runs around the outside of the heart outlining the piece and a brass hook is on the back ready for hanging, or could easily stand on a shelf for a relaxed look.
I love beachcombing and finding driftwood. The sense of its long journey and getting a feel for the piece and what it will become, maybe a heart, a boat, an owl or another creation.
Please take a look at my other work as I'm currently building the shop.
Back to my shop:
Beachcombing is such fun, always a surprise what you might find. Here is some green seaglass found amongst the pebbles, an urchin shell and small pieces of driftwood. I love the colours! Watch out to see what i'm going to use them for in future blogs.
